Today is a rainy day. The raindrops are drumming steadily on our roof. Puddles everywhere. The grass seems greener. Thick clouds are drifting across the sky, blocking out the blue sky. The temperature has dropped (perfect reason for a fire!). Our washing is soaking on the balcony, but I don't really care. I love rainy days like this! I've missed the rain. It's cosy, bright and warm inside and the flowers are going to grow all the more after quenching their thirst. Ahh...love it :o)
We've been hibernating lately. The girls and Eti have both been sick with colds. Eti is now well and the girls are still hovering on the edge, almost back to normal. In the meantime, as the weather has cooled down again for a few days, we've been staying indoors, making sure sleeps aren't interrupted and just enjoying some quiet activities together.
Plenty of artistry is happening. When mummy isn't watching the crayons and pencils stray to mouths and tables. Our favourite requests for drawings are stars, apples, rainbows and butterflies.
Our babies are being well-fed, kissed, cuddled and dressed multiple times.
Since learning about the current Marmite *crisis* (a.k.a. Marmageddon) in New Zealand, our last quarter-of-a-jar is being enjoyed with a little more appreciation (at least, by Mummy!). If nothing else, it's worth having a laugh about...besides, it's not forever :o)
Other meals have also been thoroughly enjoyed and shared liberally.
A little observing of sister's love for drawing.
...and a bit of daydreaming. This makes me smile because it shows our carefree little spirit :o)
Discovering some delicious tarlettes that surpass Toffee Pops (yes, really!)
Enjoying a spot of reading with daddy
With the sunshine pouring in through the windows
Making playdough cakes. By the way, Eti suggested very gently the other night that maybe we shouldn't have all the toys, crayons, pencils, paper, playdough, books etc. out for the girls all at once...because it makes for one huge amount of stuff to clear up at the end of each day. Initially I thought that was pretty mean, but have since realised it's quite a brilliant idea...for the girls and for us.
The girls had their first licking-the-beater experience yesterday. They were suitably impressed! I can agree...
With two little girls on the mend, we're looking forward to the long Easter weekend. Tomorrow night we'll be heading back down to the South of France and the family camping ground, hoping for a weekend of warmth, sunshine, and making time to reflect on what it means to us.
Jesus' gift of grace and life that is much bigger, fuller and beautiful than our minds can comprehend.
May your Easter weekend also be more deeper, richer and beautiful in meaning accompanying the delicious hot-cross buns and chocolate eggs.
