We've had a great weekend here celebrating the girls' 2nd birthday. Their real birthday is on Tuesday, so the celebrations are being stretched out. It's probably a little confusing for them but fun nonetheless!
I'll let the photos speak for themselves. It was a lovely afternoon with family and friends and the girls definitely enjoyed being the centre of attention. Receiving presents and blowing out candles are still unfamiliar (Amélie says 'uh oh!' when she blows out the candles!) but I'm sure by next year they'll get the hang of that :o)
Our dear friend Erika travelled three hours from her home near Berne to spend a few hours with us before needing to return back to prepare for a holiday. She made this amazing gift for the girls - a magnetic alphabet board with wooden pieces that match with each letter. She made and painted all!
The girls were also very spoilt with other fun gifts to wear, keep themselves dry in the rain, French books and songs and fun things to paint and draw with!
The food was simple but yummy. The loose theme was 'colours' because we love colour and celebrating a life of 'colour' so we had lots of veges and fruit to keep it healthy (!), chocolate fudge, Alsacien pretzels, smarties, a delicious strawberry quark gâteau from Aunty Linda downstairs, and carrot, courgette & pineapple birthday cupcakes with cream cheese icing.
Grandpapa took over window duties :o)
You can see it was an afternoon of being with good friends, laughter, yummy food and celebration! Now for Tuesday, the real day when we will celebrate again these precious lives that are nothing short of miracles.
Have a great start to your week out there!

happy birthday girls, that food table looked amazing!!!!
Thanks!! It was surprisingly easy...everything except the icing for the cupcakes was made during the morning before the party, no stress :)
Wow a visual symphony - love it all. The party table looks so colourful, those cupcakes look delissimo and that magnetic alphabet board so delightfully and thoughtfully made with love. And so many happy faces throughout...happy sigh!
