Catching up & the lately-happenings from us!

It's time for a wee update, while I have a few minutes. I've kept forgetting to take my camera on some fun outings we've been having recently, so instead I'll show you some from around home lately. Next time I'll just have to remember to take the camera along, and then to get it out to take photos!

Sometimes the fog creeps up a little higher and we hold our breath, willing it to stay down!

We've been having fun in and around home. Our Autumn has been very kind to us with days in a row of clear, blue, sunny skies and beautiful views across to the Alps. Unfortunately for those living just a few metres below us, there has been a lot of foggy days with the lake-in-the-valley effect. It's times like this that we're extra grateful to live a bit higher up!

Last (last) weekend (yes, I am really behind here!), Eti and his cousin went hiking up in the alps. It sounded amazing and the photos were stunning. And right at this moment, as the sun came up, they were sitting on the other side of the mountain watching the sun rise over the peaks. Kinda fun that it rose exactly over the mountain they were on! The mountain is called Les Dents du Midi which means 'Middle Teeth' 'cause they look like...middle teeth.

This photo makes me smile because I can hear the scene. Leesie is saying 'Ta, ta, ta, ta, ta' repeatedly, hoping that Amélie will pass the pen to her. Elise is always saying 'Ta' at the moment, either to get something or to give it. She has a very generous little heart, but also a spark of mischief when she offers something then quickly snatches it away with a twinkle in her eye :)

Speaking of our Leesie...she's also a very tough little thing. Not a lot seems to faze her. Including deciding to 'escape' the trolley at IKEA last week on her own, which led to her falling head down on the concrete floor, and left her mummy quite upset (to say the least) and feeling like a very bad mummy. It was a bit traumatic! But we call it a miracle because she had not a mark on her to show where she hit the ground and was quickly back to her chatty self. Mummy notes to self: ALWAYS keep a close eye on little girls in trolleys!

We've been having a lot of laughs around home lately. It's fun growing up as a twin, I reckon. There is always someone to play with! The girls never fail to make me smile & I love watching in on their little conversations with each other. They're coming into their own, very distinct little personalities, and it's heart-warming to see :)

Daddy's new sunglasses are a hit!

Daddy made a cool hut the other night, which the girls enjoyed crawling in and out of. So I decided to go with an idea I've had in my head for a while after seeing this...

I've got the sheet, the scissors, the clear plastic for the windows and the material...and I'm hoping that the end result might just look somewhat similar to the house above, in terms of quality. I'm not entirely familiar with the sewing machine, so we'll see :) And all going to plan the girls will have something fun to play in during the coming winter months where indoor play is likely to be more frequent!

And in between times I've been making up these paper balls and preparing a few things for Christmas decorations (I have many little projects on the go, as well as a lot of tidying up to do!). I have to remind myself there's still just a little early to put up the decorations. But I can't help myself with some things, because it just helps make those early, dark, cold evenings cosier...

One thing I am really looking forward to this Christmas, is having our dear friend Cathy stay with us for 2 weeks. While I love the novelty of winter Christmases and snow on the ground, it is hard to be away from NZ (7th year running), family and lovely summer weather, so sharing it with another far-from-home friend will make it all the more fun.

Have a great week out there! x

They are, aren't they! It's just the cutting out part that slows me down :)
